The MVV-App is a journey planning application created by the Munich transport association (MVV) for iPhone and Android smartphones. As well as the MVV-internet journey planner, it provides entire bus and train connections quickly and reliably.
The application is available free of charge via Google Play Store and Apple App Store.
The journey planning information will help you to find the quickest connection from A to B. Just enter the name of the stop, the address or the point of interest as your start or destination or use your current location as your starting point.
The result includes footpath directions to your starting or destination point. You can even mark a preferred connection as your favourite. Additionally, the ticket you will need for the requested connection is shown. If you choose the appropriate settings in the menu, you can also avoid stairs.
The departure monitor indicates the next departures for each stop, including even real-time information for all S-Bahn (urban rail) trains. Entering a stop is very simple as the MVV-App knows all the stops and makes suggestions based on the initial letter(s).
The MVV-App provides you with various plans and network maps, e. g. tariff maps, an (sub)urban rail network map (including all S- and U-Bahn lines of the entire MVV network), a Munich tramway network map, a Munich Metrobus network map and a map of all late services.
To improve up to the minute information for passengers, we have added an interactive component to the passenger network (part of the APP). This feature which is integrated in the journey planning application allows passengers to inform other passengers quickly about bus and train delays.
Try it out and help us make our journey planning information even more up to date.
You can use the MVV Mobile Traffic Information System immediately. You need neither a registration nor a login. Just make sure that your smartphone is equipped with the current version of the MVV-App.
You can purchase selected MVV tickets using the MVV-App on your smartphone. Register once and choose your ticket in the app before starting your journey. You can pay conveniently by credit card or by direct debit. The ticket is then automatically saved in you customer account and can be presented at any time – even if you don’t have an internet connection anymore. As electronic tickets are personalized, you have to bring your official photo ID.

Simply specify your departure point and destination by entering a public transportation stop, an address or a landmark (POI). You may also want to select the date and time of day. You can further fine-tune your search in the "Settings" menu, for example if you wish to exclude certain means of transport or search for barrier-free connections only.
The Journey Planner displays the entire travel route, including directions on how to get to the first stop/station or final destination on foot. A very helpful feature for purchasing the right fare: the ticket you need for the requested connection is shown on your screen.
The Departure Monitor indicates the next departures from each stop. Entering a stop is very easy: the Journey Planner suggests conveniently located stops based on what you entered, and then displays all upcoming departures. You can also select specific transportation lines.

The "Notifications" section provides you with information on all current and planned changes in the timetable due to roadwork or large public events. This information is sorted by line number for each mode of transport: S-Bahn (suburban trains), U-Bahn (underground trains), regional trains, buses and trams. You can star your preferred line(s) to make sure these specific notifications always appear at the top of the list.
